Luke Adams at MLB Trade Rumors cites a blog at FOX Sports that states the Pittsburgh Pirates are willing to trade catcher Ryan Doumit. This got me thinking...
There's been talk of what the Mets will do with the catcher position next year, and I think they have to look at Doumit. He's 28 years old, with some pop, and hit .318 in 2008 in his first real shot at consistent playing time. He is coming off of an injury-riddled season (which will keep his trade value reasonable,) but he did finish strong, hitting .346 with a .424 OBP in 23 September games. Depending on what it would cost, I would definitely like to see the Mets pursue Doumit.
What do you think?
