For the first time since 2004, the Mets won their final game of the season, defeating the Houston Astros 4-0 at Citi Field. Nelson Figueroa's complete game shutout gave the Mets their 70th win of the season.
Since the Jets play at four, I did my best to watch all of today's game. After all, you won't be seeing the Metropolitans in uniform until late February...or when we see Prince Fielder's introductory press conference on January 14th!
Good for Angel Pagan. Needing just one hit to bat .300 for the season, Pagan went 4-4, coming just a dinger shy of the cycle. He ends the year batting .306. He should be back on the team next season.
Big press conference tomorrow afternoon. The Mets are expected to announce major front office changes, although I don't see how they'll be "major" if Omar is staying. Nevertheless, I'm sure something terrible will go wrong...
It's over. It's finally over.
Good Riddance.
Weirdest Last Game of the Year Superstition Ever: Jeff Francoeur's refusal to play in the last game of a season. Really odd. Whatever. I guess he deserved a day off?
