¡Él Está Aquí!

Es no importante. (That means "he is here" in Spanish. It's his at-bat song. He being Carlos Beltran, of course.)

The Mets lost to the Marlins 4-2, Tuesday night at Citi Field. The return of Carlos Beltran did little to bolster the Mets lineup as they scored only 2 runs on 10 hits.

Florida was powered by a pair of two-run home runs, one off the bat of Hanley Ramirez and the other a shot by Cameron Maybin that landed in the Apple's well in dead center field.

Other game notes:

-David Wright and Carlos Beltran 1-8 with no RBI and left 9 men on base. A "Return to Normalcy" as President Warren Harding said after World War I.

-Angel Pagan and Luis Castillo continued their run at Met MVP as they combined for 5 hits at the top of the order. They are batting .303 and .315, respectively.

-Josh Thole delivered his first career RBI with a sac fly in the 5th inning.

-The highlights of tonight's game, like usual, came from the broadcasting booth.

First, we had Keith telling the audience the game's official scoring receives the best manicures of any official scorer in baseball. These are things we need to know.

Then we had a 10-year old little boy who won some broadcasting competition aid G.R.K. in announcing a half-inning of play. To say the situation was awkward would be a haaaa-yoooooj (Francesa) understatement. Hearing Keith and Ron conceal their laughter was fantastic. I thought Keith was going to wet his pants when the kid compared a pitcher striking out batter to making a sandwich.

And lastly we had an empty booth in the 6th inning. A meaningless September Mets game is already boring enough to watch. At least keep Keith in the booth. We need some entertainment. I was hoping for a bench-clearing brawl and Gary wouldn't be able to contain himself and he would break into the booth and just starting yelling at the top of his lungs. Didn't happen.
