The Braves beat the Mets 5-2. SHOCKER.
Now, here's my take on what I think the Mets lineup should look like in 2010.
1. SS Jose Reyes
2. LF Bobby Abreu
3. 3B David Wright
4. CF Carlos Beltran
5. RF Jeff Francoeur
6. 1B Daniel Murphy
7. C Josh Thole
8. 2B Luis Castillo
9. P Johan Santana, John Lackey, Jason Marquis, Mike Pelfrey, Oliver Perez
I think this is quite feasible. Omar really needs to make a run at Lackey. Marquis' value will be interesting considering the year he is having, but he wants to pitch for the Mets according to Jeff Francoeur, so maybe he'll take a discount. IMO, his value shouldn't be too high anyway, due to his low strikeout rate and high WHIP, and sub-par 2nd half overall...but I do like him as a 3rd starter. John Maine should be in the bullpen. Perez is in the rotation by default unfortunately. I would love to get Nick Johnson as well, but I feel that Murphy deserves another chance. Abreu can be had for a decent price, and he's rock solid every season.
It would be great to get Matt Holliday, but if they do that, they won't be willing to spend on a guy like Lackey, and it's more important for them to get a legit #1a/#2 behind Santana. Of course, they could end up not signing anybody, I don't think anybody knows for sure what Omar is going to be allowed to do, given the Wilpons alleged financial situation. Just going to have to wait and see...

I wouldn't mind that lineup at all, however it be alot safer to pursue Cliff Lee and Joel Pineiro to repair the rotation. Perez needs to stay in bullpen until he can redeem himself.
I think Lee is going to command way too much money. Pineiro's an option, I'm not so high on him personally. Perez will start 2010 in the rotation due to his 12 million dollar salary, not because he deserves it.
